Artwork Inspired By Casterton & Sedbergh School Archive
In this Heritage Lottery Funded Project, Service Users from Space2Create have been using material from Sedbergh and Casterton Schools to inspire a range of artwork. The main focus has been on screen printing, developing ne skills in our service users but also includes installations and music.
Developing designs for screen prints from ideas found in the archive the groups created a range of backgrounds then took these to Ben Dodge, Screen Printer, in his studio at the Factory in Kendal to print them.
The work references the history of the school, the experience of the pupils but also the lives of those creating the artwork.
A particular poem found in one of the Casterton Yearbooks also inspired the creation of a song using the words.
Open till October 26th, can be viewed during S2C open times and weekends as advertised.
